Counselling with a Christian Perspective |
Services |
My aim as a professional counselor is to help you find resolution to the emotional and relationship struggles you endure in your daily life. Things like: |
- Relieving stress - Coping with anxiety, anger and "everyday" depression (sadness) - Enhancing your self esteem - Identifying addictive behaviours - Changing unwanted behaviours - Communicating more effectively - Enriching relationships - Resolving "family" issues - Improving your marriage - Parenting with confidence - Taking control of your life |
How Counselling Can Help |
I value you as a person, and listen empathetically to what you have to say. I work with you to assist you to have an appropriate response to a negative situation rather that an embarrassing over-reaction. Finding peace at a deep emotional level gives you the platform you need to rebuild your life. I work with you to help you solve your "everyday concerns" - I don't diagnose or treat clinical disorders, but I can help you enjoy emotional stability and peace. |
What can you expect from counselling |
In counselling with me, you can always express your concerns in a trusting and safe environment. My role is never to judge you, but to help you resolve your problems in a way that's compatible with your value system. |
I consider it a privilege to walk with you in your journey to peace and wholeness |
Counselling is a private experience shared by client and counsellor. What is said in our sessions is strictly confidential. I'm a member of the Christian Counsellors Association (CCAA), and I adhere to their Code of Conduct and respect your right to confidentiality. Disclosure for any purpose, such as referral to another professional, requires your consent. The exceptions to this standard relate to "duty of care" and "mandatory reporting". If there is a question of harm to yourself or others, breaking confidentially may be necessary. |
Your privacy is respected |
Taking the first step toward overcoming problems, anxiety or difficult relationship issues takes courage, but I'm here to help you "make it happen". To arrange your confidential initial consultation, please contact me. Is counselling definitely for you? Can it help you overcome problems and change your life for the better? Maybe. maybe not. You won't know that until you try. However, I can tell you that counselling has helped many clients in the past 9 years. You owe it to yourself to try it and see for yourself the positive results. On that basis, please contact me now and take the first step in moving your life forward. I look forward to meeting you! If you have any questions about counselling, email me confidentially. |
How to Start |
The first session will be one and a half hours in duration. This will provide time for us to assess if we feel comfortable with each other, to gather the appropriate history and to discuss and agree on options available to reach your goals. All subsequent sessions will normally be up to two hours duration, unless we agree otherwise prior to the session. Please be on time as I will adhere to the time advised. It is for your benefit that you commit to regular sessions. Where this is unavoidable, please give a minimum 48 hours notice for cancellations. Interruptions in the continuity of counselling sessions will hamper your progress, so your appointment needs to be the priority. |
Length of Sessions |
The number of sessions will be determined by the issues presenting during counselling and the type of therapeutic approach required. As a collaborative approach, I will explain the process as we proceed. If you wish to stop counselling at any point, it is strongly advised, for your welfare, to have a termination session. Please advise me prior to your appointment so that I can prepare this session. |
